Scholarships and tuition fee waivers
Before you apply, please pay attention:
- the Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses will take place from July 7, 2025 till August 5, 2025;
- the courses are organised by Vytautas Magnus University;
- letters of recommendation can be prepared by using this form. They cannot be issued more than 6 months ago;
- letters confirming the status of students, lecturers or researchers must be signed (and stamped) and issued recently;
- submitted documents must be in English or Lithuanian;
- only candidates for face-to-face courses can be awarded with scholarships of EUR 910,00. Candidates to online courses can receive tuition fee waivers.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES
All candidates:
- cannot have higher Lithuanian language proficiency level than C1;
- cannot apply to more than one institution organising the same courses. Applications submitted to multiple institutions will be automatically rejected;
- can be awarded with tuition fee waivers or scholarships maximum 3 times.
Candidates from foreigners category:
- must be students, lecturers or researchers at higher education or research institutions abroad.
Candidates from foreigners of Lithuanian origin category:
- must be foreigners of Lithuanian origin and meet one of the following requirements: be members of Lithuanian community abroad or be students, lecturers or researchers at higher education or research institutions abroad.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- motivation;
- recommendation.
Extra points will be given to candidates who:
- apply to the Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses for the first time;
- formally or informally study Lithuanian language, history and culture in their home country. A document proving it must be added to the application form. Note that self study is not classified as an informal study of Lithuanian language, history and culture;
- are citizens of Australia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Israel, Japan, USA, Kazakhstan, China (PRC and Taiwan), Moldova, New Zealand, South Korea, Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
FINANCIAL PROVISIONS
- Tuition fee for the Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses will be covered by the Republic of Lithuania and will be directly transferred to the higher education or research institution organising the courses.
