Target Group Exchange students, anybody willing to learn English at the elementary level.
Entry requirements Age 18+ and A1.1 level competence of English.
Short description The aim of this course is to enable students to communicate in English in everyday situations and to provide them with the relevant level of the English grammar. The course develops learners’ reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, improves their use of grammar and phonetics as well as enriches their lexical repertoire. The form of studies includes lectures, self-study tasks and work in in computer assisted language learning lab and virtual environment (video and audio input, discussions, interactive tests and exercises). Participants are also introduced to Lithuanian culture and contemporary lifestyle along with developing intercultural communication skills.
Aim To develop communicative competence of English including linguistic, pragmatic and sociolinguistic components through listening and reading comprehension as well as speaking and writing at the elementary level (A1.2).
Learning outcomes By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate control of grammatical accuracy, linguistic forms and lexical structures at the A 1.2 level
  • speak and write in relatively simple language on the topics of the course such as describing places, jobs and activities
  • apply relevant politeness in functional language: asking for information, making refusals, requests, offers and suggestions and responding to suggestions
  • talk about oneself as well as one’s routines and habits
